Acacia concinna( Shikakai) has been used traditionally for hair care in the Indian Subcontinent since ancient times. It is one of the Ayurvedic medicinal plants. It is traditionally used as a shampoo as its known to control hair fall and dandruff, resulting in a long healthy, shiny hair. Shikakai powder also helps in preventing greying of hair.

 

It is a natural soap, mild and gentle and suitable for all age groups, genders, and hair types.

 

Apart from hair care, shikakai can be used for skin care, washing oily dishes/vessels, oily surfaces, for hand wash etc.

In olden days, shikakai powder was used to clean the body post abhyangam. In fact, shikakai works magically for the skin, too. Its effective in treating scabies, skin infections, dry skin.

The best way to use is to make an antiseptic body wash using shikakai and turmeric and use it daily instead of commerical soaps.

    Store the products away from wet and damp places, and as soon as you recieve do transfer the contents into an airtight jar and use a dry spoon to scoop the product. Do not use wet spoon or wet hands.

  • Usage Instructions

    For hair wash

    Shikakai can be used alone or in combination with reetha, amla, albiza and other herbs as a shampoo to help manage hair fall and prevent dandruff due to its cleansing and antifungal properties.  

    Mix the powder with water into a paste, apply and massage over wet hair and scalp and rinse.

    It is a nature given soap, mild and gentle and sutiable for all age groups, genders, and hair types.

    For hair pack

    Shikakai can also be used as a ingredient in hair masks. These cooling packs, which are usually made up of Shikakai, amla, yoghurt, and soap nut, can possibly provide welcome relief during hot weather, a nagging headache, or simply for a peaceful experience on a leisurely day. 

    For dishwashing

    Mix equal quantities of shikakai powder and wood ash and use it as a natural dishwash powder.

    1. Can shikakai cause dry hair?

    No, it does not. Shikakai has excellent moisturizing, conditioning and hydrating properties that help to eliminate hair dryness and leave it soft, shiny and frizz-free. Therefore, shikakai does not dry out your hair at all.

    2. Can we leave shikakai in hair as a hair mask?

    Yes you can, Apply the paste to your hair and leave on for 20 minutes and wash with water.

    3. Does shikakai darken hair?

    Shikakai. You must have heard about this hair hero from your mom or your grandma and here is why they always had good things to say about this wonder ingredient. Not only does it turns your grey hair black, but also slows down the ageing clock and prevents premature greying.

    4. Can Shikakai be used every day on hair?
